Change the landing page of the Home tab

Confluence Cloud has a default homepage and sidebar, where you can see activity, resume your work, access the space directory, and more. Alternatively, you can choose to set the overview page of a Confluence Cloud space as the homepage for your users.

This can be useful if most people will be reading, rather than creating, pages in your instance. However, if you want to encourage teams to collaborate, the default homepage and sidebar provide the best tools for resuming work in progress and keeping up with what's happening across Confluence.

To change your Confluence homepage to a space’s overview:

  1. If you aren’t already there, go to your Confluence Cloud instance.

  2. Select the wheel icon () in the top-right corner to open Confluence administration.

  3. Find Settings in the left-hand navigation.

  4. Select Configuration > General configuration.

  5. Select a space from the Confluence landing page dropdown menu. When users log in or click the site logo, Confluence Cloud will go to the overview page of the space you choose.

  6. Select Save configuration changes.

Note about permissions

Before changing the homepage, you should check that the default "confluence-users" or "users" groups have permissions to view the space, and that the overview page itself isn't restricted to particular people or groups.

If your instance is public, you'll also need to make sure anonymous users have permissions to view the space, otherwise they'll be directed to the default Confluence Cloud homepage instead.

If you choose to set a space’s overview page as your homepage but would also like users to be able to access the default home and sidebar, you can add a link to the application switcher.

To add the default home and sidebar to the application navigator:

  1. If you aren’t already there, go to your Confluence Cloud instance.

  2. Select  from the top left, then select Manage list.

  3. Enter the Name for your link (for example, "Dashboard").

  4. Enter the URL for your instance’s default home (for example, https://yoursite.atlassian.net/wiki/dashboard.action)

  5. Select Add.

A link to the default homepage will now appear in the application navigator.
