Disable anonymous access to remote API

Confluence administrators may wish to disable anonymous access to the Confluence Cloud remote API, to make it harder for malicious users to write "bots" that perform bulk changes to the instance.

This setting is disabled by default. To enable anonymous access to the Confluence Cloud remote API — raise a support request.

To toggle anonymous access to the remote API:

  1. If you aren’t already there, go to your Confluence Cloud instance.

  2. Select the wheel icon () in the top-right corner to open Confluence administration.

  3. Find Settings > Security in the left-hand navigation.

  4. Select Security configuration.

  5. Check or uncheck the Anonymous Access to Remote API box.

  6. Select Save at the bottom of the page.

This page is about access to the remote API. If you're looking for info about preventing anonymous users from accessing Confluence Cloud, see Manage global permissions.
