Insert the content by user macro

This macro was intentionally excluded from the new editor and will be deprecated from the legacy editor soon. Read the announcement for more.

The Content by User macro generates a list of all the content created by a specified user across your Confluence site. This includes current pages, comments, and spaces created by that user. You can click on any item to be taken to the page, comment, or space in which it resides.

Permissions

The Content by User macro will only display content that the logged in user has permission to see. This means that the same macro may display different content to two users who each have different view permissions.

Use the Content by User macro

To add the Content by User macro:

  1. When editing, select from the toolbar

  2. Find the macro by name and select it

  3. Configure it as needed

You can also type / on the page to bring up the same list you'd see by selecting from the toolbar. Continue typing the name of the macro to filter the list.

To edit the Content by User macro:

  1. Select the macro placeholder.

  2. Select the Edit icon to open the configuration panel.

  3. Configure the parameters. Your changes are saved as you go.

  4. Resume editing the page, and the panel closes.

You can also select the centered , medium-width , and full-width icons to adjust the width of some macros. Select the trashcan iconto remove the macro.

Parameters

Parameters are options that you can set to control what and how content from the macro appears on the page.

If the parameter name used in Confluence Cloud storage format is different than the label used when inserting macros using the browser or the slash command, it will be listed below in brackets (example).

Parameter

Required

Default

Description

Username

(author)

yes

none

The Confluence username for a person who has created content.

Space(s)

(spaceKey)

no

all

Specify one or more space keys, separated by a comma or a space. The macro will display only the content which belongs to the space(s) specified here.

The macro will insert a default value of 'all', but if no value is specified, it will search the current space.

When specifying a personal space, remember to use the tilde (~) sign in front of the username, such as ~jbloggs or ~jbloggs@example.com.

Maximum number of results to display at a time

(max)

no

15

The maximum value for this parameter is 500, which means that only 500 results can show at one time. You can click show more to see the next 500 results.

Wiki markup example

Wiki markup is useful when you need to add a macro outside the editor, for example as custom content in the sidebar, header or footer of a space.

Macro name: content-by-user

Macro body: None.

1 2 3 4 {content-by-user:author=jsmith|spaceKey=all|max=25}
