Adding connector lines between Jira issues on the whiteboard helps you visualize the relationships, hierarchies, and dependencies between different pieces of work. These lines can then be turned into issue links in Jira. Any link between two Jira issues created in a whiteboard will update the “Linked issues” field in Jira.
Whiteboards only support linking issues from Jira Cloud sites.
Add Jira issues to your whiteboard. You can do this by:
Connect the Jira issues with a line.
Select the line.
Select the Link issues button on the floating toolbar.
From the menu that appears, choose the type of link (for example, "blocked by").
To change the direction of the link, select the Reverse icon that appears to the right of the menu.
Select Link.
The line now has a label that shows the link you created in Jira.
You can edit the links you’ve created from the whiteboard (for example, changing "blocks" to “depends on”). Editing links from the whiteboard will update the link in Jira.
To edit a link:
Select the line between the two Jira issues.
Select the Edit link button from the floating toolbar.
From the menu that appears, change the type of link.
To change the direction of the link, select the Reverse icon that appears to the right of the menu.
Select Update.
The line label now shows the link you updated in Jira.
You can remove links between Jira issues by unlinking them. Unlinking issues from the whiteboard will also remove the link in Jira.
To remove a link:
Select the line between the two Jira issues.
Select the Edit link button from the floating toolbar.
Select the Unlink icon that appears to the right of the menu.
Select Unlink.
The line label is now removed, and the link has been removed in Jira.
You can also remove links from inside Jira. Links removed from inside Jira will also be removed from the whiteboard. Learn more about removing links from Jira.
Deleting or disconnecting a line doesn’t remove links between issues in Jira.
