An app (sometimes called an add-on or plugin) is a separately installed component that provides Confluence functionality.
There are two main types of apps:
System apps - these are bundled with Confluence and provide core functionality
User installed apps - these are usually downloaded from The Marketplace and may have been created by Atlassian or by a third party developer.
For information about developing your own apps for Confluence, see Confluence Cloud developer documentation.
In Confluence Cloud terms, you buy an app by subscribing to it.
To find and try new apps:
Select the wheel icon () in the top-right corner to open Confluence administration.
Find Settings in the left-hand navigation.
Select Atlassian Marketplace > Find new apps.
Once you're there, you can use the search and filters to find apps to help you get more done in Jira. To try or subscribe to an app, click the Free trial button next to the app.
If you don't terminate the trial within the trial period, a subscription for the app kicks in. Trials last for a month from the start of your next billing date. After starting a trial, you can stop it from the app administration page.
Although you can re-enable the trial within the original trial period, you can't try it again beyond the original trial period. At that point, you can only subscribe to the app from the Manage apps page.
Apps are managed via the Universal Plugin Manager (known as the UPM). The UPM can be found in most Atlassian applications and provides a consistent experience for administering apps. To access the UPM, go to Settings > Atlassian Marketplace > Manage apps.
The UPM allows you to:
Discover and install new apps from the Atlassian Marketplace
Install or remove apps
Configure app settings
You need to be an Atlassian Cloud site admin to access the UPM.
To cancel your subscription to an app, go to Settings > Atlassian Marketplace > Manage apps, select the app, and then select Uninstall.
Apps that use product events, such as Confluence page creation, to trigger outbound webhooks continue to send their events while unlicensed.
To remove all data and stop outbound webhooks, uninstall the app.
The audit log displays administration activities related to apps on your Confluence Cloud instance. For example, the log displays when apps were enabled or disabled, and shows the username of the administrator who made the change.
Select the wheel icon () in the top-right corner to open Confluence administration.
Find Settings in the left-hand navigation.
Select Atlassian Marketplace > Manage apps.
Choose Audit log at the bottom-left of the page.
To receive the audit log activity in an RSS feed, click the orange RSS icon on the right above the list.
