Integrate Opsgenie with Lightstep

Lightstep logo

What does Opsgenie offer Lightstep users?

Use Opsgenie’s Lightstep Integration to forward Lightstep notifications to Opsgenie. Opsgenie determines the right people to notify based on on-call schedules– notifies via email, text messages (SMS), phone calls, iOS and Android push notifications, and escalates alerts until the alert is acknowledged or closed.

Functionality of the integration

Lightstep sends JSON notifications when a Service-Level Alert (SLA) is violated or resolved, which creates an alert in Opsgenie.

Add Lightstep Integration in Opsgenie

If you're using Opsgenie's Free or Essentials plan or if you’re using Opsgenie with Jira Service Management's Standard plan, you can add this integration from your team dashboard only. The Integrations page under Settings is not available in your plan.

  1. Go to Teams and select your team.

  2. Select Integrations on the left navigation and then select Add integration.

Adding the integration from your team dashboard will make your team the owner of the integration. This means Opsgenie will assign the alerts received through this integration to your team only. Follow the rest of the steps in this section to set up the integration.

1. Go to Settings > Integrations. Search for “ServiceNow Cloud Observability“ and select Add

2. For the integration variant, select “Lightstep”.

In case of unified alerts, select the “ServiceNow Cloud Observability” integration variant. Find out how to integrate with ServiceNow Cloud Observability.

3. Specify who is notified of Lightstep notifications using the Responders field. Autocomplete suggestions are provided as you type.

4. Copy the integration URL which includes Opsgenie’s endpoint as well as the API key.

5. Select Save Integration.

Configuration in Lightstep

  1. In Lightstep, navigate to the Destinations page by clicking Monitoring: Destinations in the nav bar.

  2. Click on the drop-down button New Message Destination and select Webhook.

  3. Fill the URL field with the integration URL copied from Opsgenie while saving the Lightstep integration.

  4. Click Create.

  5. All set! Now manage your Lightstep notifications at Opsgenie and leverage its full alerting functionality.
