Manage your organization’s Atlassian accounts
Gain control over your employee's Atlassian accounts.
Delete an account to permanently close an Atlassian account. This will also delete personal data associated with the Atlassian account, except for data we’re required to keep for legitimate business or legal purposes. We’ll stop billing your organization for this account.
If you think the account will need access to your organization again, deactivate the account instead to retain their roles and group membership.
You can only delete or deactivate managed accounts. If your organization doesn’t manage the account you no longer need, you can remove the user instead.
When you delete an account, we’ll delete the following personal data from all Atlassian account services:
Full name
Public name
Job title
Department
Organization
Location
Time zone
Email address
Atlassian profile picture
Atlassian account services include all organizations and sites used to access these products:
Jira product family
Confluence Cloud
Bitbucket Cloud
Trello
The account also won’t be able to raise tickets at Atlassian Support, post on Atlassian Community, or access license and order information at my.atlassian.com.
Read about additional data deleted from Bitbucket Cloud
We’ll delete the user’s personal data from Atlassian account services within 30 days, except for data we’re required to keep for legitimate business or legal purposes. Examples include:
Information related to purchases, which we’re required to keep for financial reporting.
Records that show we deleted someone’s account, which we may need to provide to regulators.
Data that’s part of an active lawsuit, which we’re required to keep by law.
The user has the right to submit complaints to the supervisory authority in their country.
Additionally, we don’t delete the following data:
Content the user has created in Atlassian account services, such as pages, issues, and comments.
Any personal data in content the user or someone else created, such as names or email addresses typed into a page or issue.
The user’s profile information that might have been stored in Marketplace and custom apps installed in products.
Deleting an Atlassian account doesn’t delete their Jira Align, Halp, or Opsgenie accounts.
To delete their Jira Align Atlassian data, email Jira Align Support at jira-align-support@atlassian.com. To delete their Jira Align product account, contact your Jira Align admin.
To delete a Halp account, contact Support.
To delete an Opsgenie account, see Delete your Opsgenie account.
Customers using SAML SSO or Google Workspace
If you’re using SAML SSO, remove the user from your identity provider before you delete their account. If you don’t remove the user from your identity provider, their Atlassian account will get created again and they'll still be able to log in.
If you manage users through Google Workspace, remove the user from Google Workspace. Then contact Support to request deletion of the user’s account.
